Last of the (Metal) Citadel Giants

Painted up the last of the metal Citadel giants, before they switched to plastic/resin/whatever. On the one hand, I like it because it's a really nice sculpt. Detailed & full of character. I love the mean look on his face. On the other hand, it's the quirkiness of a lot of the other giants that makes them stand out. It's almost like the sculptor (does anyone know who did this?) did too good of a job in coming up with a really well done giant! A nice addition to my growing collection, and at some point I may need to come back around and pick up a second one with the alternate head.

  1. Yeah, he's probably one of the best giant sculpts IMHO. Great job on the paint job! The six o'clock shadow is stellar :)

    1. Thanks! I was rather happy with how that turned out. Wasn't sure it was noticeable in the pics, so I'm happy you said something!

  2. Great paint job. The skin has a sort of sweaty/dirty look that I think is perfect for a topless giant.

I think this is my favorite giant, although I do like the options present in the plastic one. (I just wish it had alternate legs so they are not all posed the same)

I believe that this giant was sculpted by one of the Perrys, although I would have to look it up to be sure.

    1. I would be willing to bet you're right -- it looks like both of their style, especially the head.

I'm not as much a fan of the plastic one. I keep thinking about getting one just to have it in the collection, but there's always others that I'd rather have first.

  3. Fantastic painting, once again, 0-23. The little lacerations on his skin are a nice touch.
Like Mr. P., I just love this miniature. Is it me, or does he remind you of the giant from Time Bandits?

    1. Somewhat. I think the sense of motion the sculptor captured is brilliant. Would that properly be called contrapposto? That's another one of my favorite things about this mini. And it does have that same sort of feel as the motion of the giant in the film. His body has a similar build too. And they're both bald. Maybe I need to make him a little ship for a hat!

  4. There is considerable evidence of burials among the giants, as recorded in ... to the Citadel, some maesters estimate that the largest of the giants could reach ... in caverns or beneath tall trees, and they worked neither metal nor fields. ... Now the giants are gone even in the lands beyond the Wall, and the last reports of them.
