Time Flies

Time Flies! About three months since my last update.

The quick gaming & miniatures update is that it's been about 6 months or so of nothing. I am very disappointed that I have dropped out of the Old World Army Challenge. I missed the annual game fest with my friends from the gaming group I bonded with in college. I miss them.

Just after my last update two boxes of painted figures somehow (rodents, I think) got dumped on the floor and I haven't even had the energy to look at the damage -- they're still sitting on the basement floor in a wrecked pile. It difficult enough to find time to paint, I can' bring myself to assess the damage to already painted figures that I've already poured so much of myself into.

In place of adventures in my head or on a small table of lead & plastic figures, I've had some personal adventures in the wild, I guess.

I've visited/hiked the Cuyahoga Valley National Park twice recently. I had some misadventures at a professional resort/convention center in Grapevine, TX. I wandered a 100 year old junk yard in north-western Georgia (more exciting than it sounds!)

I was 106 miles from Chicago, had a full tank of gas, no cigarettes, it was sunny and I was wearing sunglasses. I hit it...

..after doing my building survey. But only got as far as Schaumburg before stopping for lunch and a spy session. Then drove through WI & MN. I took a side quest to Lake Geneva again! I found the Gary Gygax memorial this time and it was even more sad and disappointing than the D&D "museum" I found a few years ago. I took an hour and a half to wander the Wisconsin woods and waterfalls and it was beautiful.... before having to return to the grind.

I hiked around the Rocky Mountains near Denver & Boulder and saw a great view of the Continental Divide from the heights of the mountains. I pushed myself to do more than I thought I could. I miss that already. "Mountains, Gandalf, mountains!"

I didn't get eaten by bears, mountain lions, envenomated by rattlesnakes, nor trampled by moose. So I came came home and struggled with my vegetable & herb gardens and the weed field lawn.

I'm struggling heavily with the Wanderlust.

And I have no motivation for painting miniatures nor gaming. I think I could get into gaming with friends again. But as much as the solo gaming was enjoyable, it's not currently high on my list of mental rewards.

I had a whole lot of photos to accompany this update, but also don't have the mental capacity to edit & post pics here.

I post more on IG because they have an actual phone app. Even though I hate Meta even more than Google. Google, who bought Blogger years ago, and makes the Pixel phone I post from, and the Android OS I work on, and is supposed to to be a leader in tech... still doesn't have a working Blogger app. In fact, the last update I read said that Google's leadership has no idea who is even running Blogger. So I expect this whole site will be lost at some point in the not too distant future. Pics of my adventures & such at the accounts below.

I used to post regularly on Live Journal, The Oldhammer Forum, Lead Adventure Forum, and other spaces but as technology has shifted attention elsewhere  I guess all of that is lost. Since I'm giving up on being a slave to tech-fashion and the ever shifting changes of social media.... I'll continue to find/maintain some spaces I've established but I give up on pouring effort into staying "relevant" in terms of revenue generating online space. Good bye.
