(Some hastily written fluff.)

It has been thirteen years since the Peasants' Rebellion ended. The southernmost duchies of the Kingdom of Needaname lie barren. What started as a rebellion turned into complete devastation when the leaders of the Peasants' League allied with the mysterious Sorcerer, Caed. His enchanted assistance at first paid off and the Peasants made progress and their rebellion spread. But as more troops from nearby duchies poured in under the Royal banner to contain and put-down the uprising, the Sorcerer's methods turned increasingly desperate, dreadful and ruinous. The rebellion became a war between the queen's troops and the supernatural. Undead and daemonic creatures replaced the peasants who had been seeking a better life, and the farms and towns they defended were destroyed.

No one quite understands what happened next. Maybe it was the influx of mystical forces, or maybe something awoke within the land itself, but a new faction appeared. Mysterious fungus based creatures started to appear. First in small numbers, then in force. Never quite enough to battle the forces of the Queen or the Sorcerer directly, but enough to disrupt the war.

Since the Battle of Twilight Flume, the Sorcerer has not been seen. Although his forces were routed by the Royals, there is no account of his death or whereabouts. The rebellion and war are over and the ruined territory remain largely unoccupied by humans and their allies. Unholy creatures still roam the region while the Royals recover from their losses and guard the border. The Shroomfolk, as they've come to be known, have continued to spread their influence through the land. Across the Nonameyet River Valley, the fey look to reassert their ancient influence, and burghers of Alsoneedsaname to the south all consider their their own opportunities for expansion.
