Lord of the Feast, Desk Move, Casualty Base

Trailing a bit behind the Deadcember goals is the Lord of the Feast. A Warmahordes figure that I thought would go well with my Undeadish. I broke my rule and gave him just a spot of color, but sometimes the exception to the rule is what matters. (Arbitrary rule anyway.)

At some point I do have more Undeadish rank & file to finish. And some more characters and critters. Maybe later in the year.

I also put some flock and a magnet on the base of the figure I got from the Oldhammer in the New World trade. Will have to get a shot of him in use/context at some point!

My desk situation wasn't working out, unfortunately. So I've fled to the only other space available, a table in the corner of the basement. Not sure if this will work out any better, but it's worth a shot. Still getting set up, but I took a break to paint the Lord of the Feast, above. I miss my old attic.

  1. Very well-executed! A paint-job that is worthy of a great figure.

  2. That skull helmet is pretty cool looking. It's tough getting the paint table set up just right my main problem has always been slouching no matter how I'm set up. I'm trying to paint with better posture this year.

    1. The best thing I've done for my back is sit on a regular chair/stool, but work at a 36" +/- high surface. I had been using an old adjustable drafting table. Unfortunately it's currently stored in the garage, I'm not sure I can get it in the house nor find room for it.

  3. That basement space looks pretty good, provided there is heat! (and you do not bang your head every time you stand up)

    1. In spite of my best efforts so far, the furnace and ductwork leak as much hot/cold air into the basement as it intentionally blows into the rest of the house, so the temp is usually pretty comfortable. So far a dehumidifier has been keeping it fairly dry.

The negatives are -- as you called it -- the low ceiling is a hazard to my bald head. The first few weeks in the house I was a bruised mess, but I've mostly learned my lesson. Mostly. It's also noisy as hell, (furnace/blower, dehumidifier, sump pump, water) which makes it hard to listen to music and/or keep my ears open for the little one calling for me or getting into trouble. And lastly... the bugs. Mostly pill bugs, crickets, centipedes, and spiders. Constantly cleaning up pill bug corpses and feces. Hopefully there's not much of interest to any of them on my table (and I suspect the latter two are only interested in hunting and eating the former two anyway.)

The plus side is that it's someplace to paint, sculpt, etc.

I had really been hoping my initial desk would work out. I like the idea of being able to work on stuff as a regular part of the household. But I usually can't get a moment of peace for painting or anything else until everyone else is asleep, and the desk has been overrun anyway.

    2. Yes, I suppose not much interest in fixing the heat if it is keeping your work space warm...

You might try some double stick tape to ward off the bugs from your table and storage boxes.
