Mounted Wight Lord

Finished the old wight lord to go with the skeletons I painted a little while ago.

  1. Very nice! I don't have that model, sadly; I really like that dead horse.

    1. The horse stands really low, so the figure looks a bit shorter than most other Citadel cavalry. But it's a beautiful sculpt, and that pose is part of the charm for me.

  2. Nice job! I have that wight lord guy too, the riders cool but the horse looks too much like a camel.

  3. Lovely blending on the black - they look suitably sinister.

  5. Thanks everyone. I really like the figure, even if it's a bit quirky and almost out of place with all the other cavalry. Glad to hear they look sinister. That's my hope with the simple color scheme on all of the undead. I think some of the helmets in this unit lend to the sinister look as well.

  6. I think the horse is really what sells this figure, the wight himself is sort of goofy, but the sinister slouch of the horse makes it up again.

The blending on the black is great as mentioned above. Are you going to add a device to the shields, or go with the flat black?

    1. Plain black. My concept is to remove the undead as far as I can from human (or hobbit, nor dwarf, etc.) understanding. They need no heraldry nor devices, they are silent, their goals can only be guessed at, etc.

I also like the thought of undead with dark/black equipment attacking silently at night. Honestly, if I were the mind behind an undead army, I'd go as far as painting the skeletons black, too. And I'm still tempted to do a few units that way for a night attack scenario... :)
