Marching On - Further Progress
Further progress...
Once I finish four figures, I've hit the first goal for gaming building blocks.
I think I have a couple of tails that I will clean up and cast. After a bunch of rejects, I've decided I like the tails leaner and simpler. Figure shown for scale. He's one of the two metal (rather than Bones) figures I will be converting. I foresee a rough time dealing with the metal. I've been spoiled by how easy the Bones material is to hack up -- though it takes a bit of work to get it clean of little bits of plastic, smooth finish, etc.
Continuing to work on some commission figures as well.

Came over after reading your comments on Darrin's (Bulldog's) post about a certain Oldhammer group. Very nice blog. I'm particularly interested in your casting and conversions. It's something I've wanted to try myself but been too chicken to do. I have an alumilite casting kit collecting dust in the hobby dungeon.
ReplyDeleteI had been wanting to do it for some time, too. Unfortunately, my first silicone mold kit sat around for about a year and a half (plus however long it was on the shelf at the art store.) So when I first used it, the silicone was already set solid in the jars and I had to buy a fresh set. So the lesson I learned was that I should have just done something instead of putting it off so long. Don't let your kit collect too much dust. ;)
DeleteReally love these fomorians. Are you going to do a command for them? Swamp wizard type?
ReplyDeleteYour RBG painting commission is coming along quite nicely as well.
I have a few general ideas on how I want the project to grow. I'm going to stick with these conversions for a while, to represent the main warrior class. At some point I need to come up with a solution for some lower-class (unarmoured) warriors. As far as command, at some point I would love to get this figure I just learned of: http://www.troll-outpost.de/index.php/minis/mercaneries/swamp-folk-warrior.html As far as mages, I have some possibilities in the works.....
DeleteThis project is really looking good! Always looking forward to more. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm really getting into it. For the moment. Wargamers & painters are a fickle breed. Next month it may be Persians. Haha.
